Mini Facelift
What are they?
A thread lift is a type of procedure wherein resorbable sutures are used to pull the loose skin thereby lifting and tightening the skin. This procedure stimulates collagen production, hence combating the aging process at the same time. This process provides ongoing and progressive rejuvenation and contributes to skin’s tone and firmness.
The threads are sutures that are made from a biocompatible material called PDO and are safely re-absorbed by the body. Threads usually remain in place for about four to six months, after which point, they slowly dissolve. However, patients continue to notice the results of their lift for a year or more after their treatment due to collagen stimulation.
The advantage of having a thread lift over a traditional facelift is a reduced recovery time. There is a minimal downtime with this procedure which enables the patient to go back to work right away. Thread lifts are done under a local anesthesia and are considered low risk and non-invasive. They are also more affordable than a facelift.
The results from a thread lift are more subtle and natural looking than a facelift surgery. Thread lifts are therefore best suited for patients who are dealing with mild to moderate skin laxity.
The results of a thread lift will generally last from one to two years. Patients can opt to have a fresh set of sutures placed and/or combine the procedure with other nonsurgical procedures in order to create more comprehensive, noticeable results.
